The Flowing Dutchman

WHAT

The workshop ‘The Flowing Dutchman’ will take you on a ride. The mace is one of the most versatile training tools you’ll ever come across. You will learn about it’s origin, about the traditional style of training with a mace. This will be our bridge into the wild world of mace flow. Moving with a mace may look incredibly complicated to you and you have no idea were to begin. We will discuss the foundations, key exercises, transitions, and lower body movements that are a staple of mace flow. These exercises will increase your skill-level and will give you the ability to dissect any flow into smaller pieces. You will be given a framework on how to build a flow. This workshop will empower you to become more mindful and creative, and increase your ability to express yourself.

If you're into steel mace, you'll be into Harbeats Workshop. Coming from a perspective of a Steel Mace Flow Educator, there's a whole other perspective of how to flow with a steel mace. You get to add on to the way that you experience moving through space and time with it. He offers different ways to think of rotational force and using hand transitions to move with it, and against it; Additional ideas to pivot and change direction; A different way to chase circles. It helped my practice teremdously. Besides that, he's just awesome to be around as a human.

Steel Mace Flow Educator
I had been training with a mace for a little over a year when I attended the workshop with Harbert. I had been following him an learning from his videos for months when I saw he was coming to the USA and I knew immediately I had to go. Harbert is incredibly knowledgable and talented with the mace and was very articulate and patient as an instructor. He was able to recognize our strengths and weaknesses and really be present with us as we took in all he had to share. I would definitely recommend anyone interested in the mace to take ANY opportunity to learn from him!!

As someone who has practiced with the mace for several years I am always excited and eager to learn something new. When I first signed up for the FH workshop I had very high expectations. I have been a follower and a fan of Harbert for quite some time and I can honestly say my high expectations were more than met. Harbert's style of flow is unique and intense. His breakdown of the fundamentals and teaching ability brings a fresh and interesting perspective to mace flow. I feel I have so much to incorporate into my own mace practice and with teaching my clients. I look forward to training with Harbert in the future. Thank you for a great day and an amazing experience!

My first training experience with Harbert was in my opinion a huge success. Right from the start you could tell that Harbert did not only have a deep understanding of the mace technique but had the passion to match it. The techniques were well explained and the training had a solid build up. I would recommend anyone that wants to train with the mace to contact Harbert, to get you on your journey with this beautiful versatile piece of training equipment.
